Mary Penley
Hi, my name is Mary Penley and I
joined Radio Hillingdon in September 2007. I first
came across Radio Hillingdon when I was an in-patient
in the hospital myself listening on my Patientline
terminal! I have always loved radio so joining Radio
Hillingdon is a way of giving back to the hospital
that saved my life and of learning new skills. It is a
great team of people, all giving their time for free
to provide a service which we hope you enjoy. I like
most styles of music including jazz and classical, and
in my dim distant past I was directly involved with
the rock music industry (my hearing isnt 'too' much
affected!) I also love meeting people and listening to
their stories,and so enjoy taking part in the road
shows and reporting on local issues.
I currently co-present an early evening show with Jo
Howlett on a Tuesday evening from 5-7pm. This a mix of easy
listening music together with features which currently
include a travel spot, together with the top films and
books for the week. If you are reading a good book in
hospital do let us know, and we can share it with our
listeners. As I gain in experience as a presenter I hope to
introduce a studio guest request spot where I chat to a
member of the hospital / local community and then play a
piece of their favourite music.
