I first became interested in Hospital Radio around the mid eighties,
when I was a patient in the Hillingdon Hospital and thought
I would like to have a go at playing records and chatting to
patients. This lead to me joining Hospital Radio Hillingdon
in 1991 and I was amazed at the electronics that were used for
transmitting the sound. I found the whole set up awesome, even
though in my younger days I had spent a lot of time playing
around with tape recorders, but I soon learnt how to use all
the technology.
When I first joined the station, I spent some time sitting in
with other presenters as they did their show; eventually I was
partnered with another presenter to help present the Request
Show. I continued with this until I was offered my own show
on a Thursday night which featured requests from Hayes ward.
Shortly after the Country Music slot became vacant and Jeff
Brown Station Director at the time, invited me to also take
over this show on Saturday afternoon.
Running alongside these two shows, I was also presenting the
Monday evening show from 7.00 to 8.30pm which is still my regular
slot today and hope to continue to present for a long time to
come. |
