David Brown

40 years of Hospital Radio Hillingdon
THIS year is a big year for the small radio station that serves the patients at Hillingdon Hospital as it finally reaches the grand old age of 40 years. To mark this great occasion, the volunteers are planning many special events and Hospital Radio Hillingdon is broadcasting a series of special programmes.

This picture (left) is of David Brown in our then “new” studio in 1976. Dave is one of our founder members and has recently returned to present a special hour long programme explaining how the station started and mapping out the key events along the way from 1970 to 2010. Listen out for the 40th Anniversary specials at midday Monday to Friday, 9pm on Saturdays and 5pm on Sundays.

David has also recently returned to the regular presenting team at the station, with Dave’s Music Mix, which you can hear on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons between 4pm and 5pm. It is a non-stop menu of Classic Pop, Disco, Soul and Big Band, with the occasional interruption by David to remind you what you’ve heard, in case you want to request the song again on The Request Show !

There is more information about the 70’s era and how the station started here. Find out more about us by checking out the latest edition of the Radio Hillingdon Magazine. You can get a copy from the Radio Hillingdon Ward Visitors or by contacting us. If you would like to advertise in our next magazine, please contact Heartbeat Publications.
